HOSEA

In the writings of Hosea we find the story of a dysfunctional family  restored to normality. The family members caught up in this drama are the deeply hurt husband Hosea, his unfaithful wife Gomer, and three confused children, Jezreel, Lo-ruhamah, and Lo-ammi.

Woven into the story of this family is also the story of a wayward people, the People of Israel. From the unfaithfulness of Gomer to her husband, a picture is drawn of the people's unfaithfulness to their God. It is possible that we may also see something of our own nation in this picture. Derek Kidner* writes ...
"His people have played him false: In religion, with other gods, another cult; in politics, with shabby intrigues and dubious patrons; in morals, with unbridled sex and violence."
